Since filtration levels were electronically controlled, accuracy was improved compared to using the mechanical thumb wheels on the color head. The controllers also provided a computer interface port, the intention being that users could control the r settings from a computer using custom software. The D5500 Cl's dichroic was Omega's offering of an innovative color head no longer based on mechanical cams and dials.
